This is a 80-square-mertre thirty-year-old house. The lights mainly came from the front windows, back balcony, and two small windows on the aisle. The original partition plan blocked the nature light and narrowed the sight. Because of the new owner couples' occupations in art industry, they tend to pay a lot of attention to the arrangements of lighting and materials.
Despite the strong lapping sunlight widely preferred by western culture, "Home 652" chose to create layers of desaturated shades and gloomy colors. Inspired by the famous Japanese writer, Tanizaki Junichir's famous saying, “Were it not for shadows, there would be no beauty.” Light and shadows may be of overriding importance in the choice of colors and materials. Gradients of grey colors and detailed arrangements were settled to create different levels of brightness and saturation. In the choice of materials, different kinds of glasses, metals, and stones were used to introduce more sunlight and to create reflections of light. And the filtering glass blocks and Roman blinds were designed to deliberately create halation and preserve privacy.
Homes with open layouts have become some of the most popular and sought-after house plans available today. By opting for larger combined spaces, the ins and outs of daily life - cooking, eating, and gathering together - become shared experiences. In addition, the open floor plan of "Home 652" makes the house feel bigger and brighter, even if the square footage is modest. By eliminating doorways and expanding the windows, our design aims to achieve a sense of spaciousness.
The front door opens straight into the living room and a graceful but masculine SGCC steel-made shelf comes right into view. The shelf, in its essence, is a reflection of the owners' personalities and what makes them unique. The neat shelf lining ends up with rounded wooden barks and brings out the elegancy. The dark-colored wooden floor panels are arranged like railway tracks, which distinguishes it from the light-colored floor in the kitchen. The use of wooden floor contributes a warm and lovable character to the house. The large window is carefully framed with slivered Italian glass blocks with only 5mm gaps on both sides. An atmosphere of slight solemnity rises from the transparency and even-numbered symmetry design.
Since family and friends always seem to gravitate to the heart of the home- kitchen, it's only natural to want a home plan design that features the most comfortable one possible. That is why we designed the kitchen to share an open space with the dining room and the living room. The Metal counter is linked to a black jade marble table, and together forming a subtle light stream. The legs of the table are designed in round and triangle shapes to echo the surface. To extend the geometrical concept, the sills of the windows behind the counter are cut in angles to create cubical shadows.
On the other side of the house is a glass room that is adequately lit in the afternoon. It can be used as a painting studio or a gym. In the evening, the curtain would deflect and block the light and make this room a private booth in a magical theatre. A delicate wooden accessory was precisely crafted to connect two parts of the glass wall. Behind the other part of the wall, is the shoe cabinet at the entrance.
In the master bedroom, we kept the original large window and installed snake curtains. We visually enlarge the space with the ceiling dome design. The hidden lighting can be faintly seen from outside during the night. In order to generate a comforting feeling, great amount of wooden materials were used. The headboard and bedframe were made from dark-dyed steel brush sycamore and the floor was made from light-grey birch. The combination of different wood materials orchestrates a beautiful scene. The master bathroom showcases various layers of grey colors and a great integration of distinct materials. We used faux painting and Ariston marble mosaic as decoration and built a frosted glass between the master bathroom and guest bathroom to channel the natural sunlight into the latter.
Our interior design services go beyond the inventive use of color, forms, and the sensuous depiction of natural light. We aim for excellence in achieving a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality in each and every one of our projects.
